ABOUT THE ROLE
Future Pipe Industries is seeking an experienced Plant Operations Manager to lead and oversee our stores, quality control, planning, process control, production, and maintenance departments. You will be accountable for ensuring that quality, efficiency, and delivery consistently meet company standards — running the plant in the most effective and cost-efficient way possible.
Key Responsabilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the implementation of operational policies, procedures, and controls across all plant activity
- Lead the operations department — set objectives, manage performance, develop staff, and provide formal and informal feedback
- Ensure the establishment of new initiatives and continuous improvement plans across all departments
- Maintain an optimum organisational structure so resources are utilised efficiently and communication flows effectively
Manufacturing & Production- Ensure production activities meet agreed quality, efficiency, and delivery standards
- Plan, employ, and control labour, materials, and equipment to minimise overall manufacturing costs
- Drive reduction of rejections, waste, and defect levels
- Ensure all planning and production orders are transacted through the Baan ERP system
- Manage uncommitted stock checks and usage
Maintenance- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance plans are executed consistently to minimise breakdowns and maximise machine availability
Stores & Planning- Manage and control all items entering and exiting the plant in line with company procedures
- Ensure timely ordering of raw materials, consumables, and spare parts within set stock level parameters
- Communicate effective scheduling to Sales and Projects teams to meet primary and final client commitments
Quality, Safety & Environment- Ensure all manufactured goods and processes conform to company specifications and quality standards
- Maintain all accreditations and standards across the plant
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies
Budget & Financial Control- Direct the preparation of the operations department budget and monitor performance vs. targets
- Contribute to annual CAPEX and production budget preparation
- Prepare the plant manpower budget based on current and forecasted orders
People & Training- Identify HR requirements and training needs to ensure continuity in succession planning and function rotation
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering; MBA is an advantage
Experience- 5 – 7 years of hands-on experience in the fiberglass industry in a supervisory or management role
- Proven track record managing production, maintenance, quality, and stores functions
Technical Skills- Practical knowledge of CW and DW machines and fiberglass manufacturing processes
- Strong technical understanding of raw materials, testing, and quality control
- Proficiency in ERP systems — Baan experience is an advantage
