Job Description

Position: Design Project Manager Landscape Projects

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Design Project Manager with a background in Landscape Architecture or Architectural Design to support the successful delivery of landscape design projects.

The role will involve coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

The Design Project Manager will provide project management support across multiple projects, assist design teams with project controls, and maintain alignment between design, commercial, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Coordination

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate project tasks, resources, and schedules to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Provide project management support and guidance on multiple landscape design projects simultaneously.
  • Assist design teams with project management procedures, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain project progress reports, schedules, and task resourcing plans.
  • Support the programming of projects using MS Project and assist in maintaining a master portfolio programme.
  • Design Team Support

    • Assist design teams with project administration including:
    • RFIs (Requests for Information)
    • Client comment responses
    • Change requests
    • Risk registers
    • Monitor design team compliance with established project management procedures.
    • Ensure adherence to QA/QC and documentation standards in accordance with ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.

    Change Management & Commercial Coordination

    • Prepare and manage change requests and change registers.
    • Coordinate between Design Teams and Commercial Teams to facilitate client submissions related to changes.
    • Support the Contracts Team in reviewing contracts and contractual documentation to ensure alignment with project proposals and negotiated terms.

    Risk Management

    • Monitor project performance and report to the PM Director and relevant departments on projects at risk regarding time, cost, or quality.
    • Support teams in implementing effective risk management practices.
    • Coordinate with the Operations Team for risk reporting, mitigation strategies, and recovery planning.
    • Assist in maintaining project risk registers and ensuring timely reporting to clients.

    Procurement & Sub-consultant Coordination

    • Facilitate the procurement of sub-consultants for project-specific requirements.
    • Coordinate and monitor sub-consultant deliverables and performance on selected projects.

    Client & Stakeholder Management

    • Confidently interact with client representatives and stakeholders.
    • Support project reporting and assist in resolving project management and contractual matters.
    • Ensure clear communication between internal teams and clients.

    Education

    • Degree in Landscape Architecture preferred
    • Degree or recognised qualification in Project Management is an advantage

    Certifications

    • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is an advantage

    Experience

    • 810 years of professional experience in design consultancy environments
    • Minimum 4+ years of project management experience within a design environment
    • Experience working on landscape architecture or urban design projects is highly desirable

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Experience with MS Project for project programming and scheduling
    • Working knowledge of design tools such as:
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit
    • Adobe Creative Suite (advantageous)
