Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Presales Engineer UPS to join our Power Division and become the technical backbone for our UPS business.

Role Summary

The Senior Presales Engineer UPS will be responsible for the full technical sales support cycle: understanding customer requirements, designing and sizing UPS solutions, preparing professional proposals and submittals, and supporting the sales team in winning and delivering profitable projects.

This role requires strong UPS technical expertise (single-phase and three-phase), excellent proposal and presentation skills, and the ability to work closely with sales, vendors, and customers in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Presales Support

  • Analyze customer requirements, load profiles, and site conditions to select, size, and configure UPS solutions (single-phase and three-phase).
  • Prepare technical and commercial offers, including BoQ/BOM, system architecture, options, and alternatives.
  • Develop technical submittals: datasheets, compliance statements, technical clarifications, and method statements where required.
  • Review tender/RFP documents, identify technical requirements and deviations, and propose compliant / optimized solutions.
  • Perform UPS runtime calculations, battery sizing, load segregation, and redundancy design (N+1, N+2, etc.) as needed.

Customer & Sales Engagement

  • Support the sales team during customer visits, meetings, and conference calls as the technical focal point.
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demos to end-users, consultants, and channel partners.
  • Provide technical training to internal sales teams and selected partners on UPS portfolio and design best practices.
  • Participate in site surveys to validate technical feasibility, installation constraints, and upgrade/replacement options.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and maintain standard design templates, calculation sheets, and offer formats to speed up response time.
  • Ensure all offers and submittals are aligned with vendor documentation and relevant standards.
  • Support the creation of as-built documentation and handover technical packs for awarded projects (to projects/implementation teams where applicable).

Market, Vendor & Competition

  • Continuously analyze competitor products, pricing, and technical differentiators and update internal comparison tools.
  • Work with vendors to obtain updated technical information, special pricing, and design support where required.
  • Provide feedback to management on product gaps, new models, and portfolio enhancements needed for the local market.

Process & Coordination

  • Ensure all offers, opportunities, and activities are logged and updated in the company's CRM/ERP system (e.g., Odoo).
  • Support the sales and operations teams with lead-time, availability, and alternative product suggestions.
  • Follow up on pending offers and projects with sales to close technical gaps and increase win probability.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering (or closely related field).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in UPS technical presales (distribution, vendor, or system integrator background).
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • UPS topologies (offline/standby, line-interactive, online double conversion).
  • Single-phase and three-phase UPS systems.
  • Battery sizing and backup time calculations.
  • Power quality basics (THDi, THDu, PF, inrush, etc.).
  • Proven experience preparing technical & commercial offers and tender submittals for UPS projects.
  • Solid skills in technical presentations, customer meetings, and consultant interactions.
  • Very good command of English (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in Excel (BOMs, calculations, comparison sheets); experience with AutoCAD/Visio or similar tools is a plus.
  • Experience working with CRM/ERP systems (Odoo or equivalent) is an advantage.
