Job Summary:
The Sr. Supervisor, Procurement will handle purchasing and departmental operations and will report directly to the Procurement Manager. Sr. Supervisor will coordinate, support, and participate in the inputs and outputs of the purchasing department. The Sr. Supervisor plans and supervises work activities and tasks to be accomplished with other team specialists, ensuring completion of tasks and monitoring supplier delivery, cost, quality, and performance of goods and services. They work to achieve cost savings and efficiencies and assist in planning and developing routine and annual blanket order efforts, acting as the primary point of contact for blanket order vendors and activities. The Sr. Supervisor also leads purchase order electronic folder maintenance and the annual renewal of required compliance documents, ensures compliance, and participates in audit preparations. They communicate with internal and external stakeholders, end users, and management.
What You Will Do:
Policies & Procedures Development
- Understands, complies and can explain purchasing policies/procedures
- Provides input, helps develop and implement potential policy and system changes/improvements
- Leads purchase order reports & quarterly purchase order file self-assessment.
People Management
- Generates commitment, motivation and enthusiasm for department members; acts as role model and example to department for competence and professionalism.
- Provides clear direction, prioritizes tasks, assigns responsibility and monitors workflow and performance of team.
- Ensures quality of work and upholds strong work ethic.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, training, professional development and transferring knowledge to other team members.
- Provides input to purchasing manager on team member performance for training, development, rating and promotion/achievement award purposes.
- Effectively communicates and resolves problems/issues with other functional groups, requestors, end users, cost account managers and management.
Operational Management
- Prepares requests for proposal/quote/information
- Reviews and ensures requirements are clear, accurate and complete for suppliers and bidding/review purposes.
- Evaluates supplier submissions and makes award recommendations.
- Prepares competitive bid assessments and develops summary of awards.
- Submits and responds to purchase order approval requests from US support group.
- Ensure supplier awards are compliant with policies/procedures.
- Approves and issues purchase orders.
- Supervises staff and attends meetings in the absence of the Purchasing Manager.
- Maintains purchasing documents, files and records for the purpose of ensuring compliance, audit, availability and reference.
- Supervises, plans, organizes and monitors team workload, priorities, performance and attends meetings in purchasing manager's absence.
- Monitors current supply base and works to develop new sources of supply for goods/services
Note: This Role will require traveling if needed.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- Knowledge and skill in SAP system.
- Knowledge in basic MS applications (Word, Excel).
- Knowledge and experience in interfacing and managing orders with small/medium size businesses and local suppliers.
- Knowledge of local laws, regulations, policies and practices governing procurement.
- Strong work ethic, communication skills and ability to work well with others.
- Strong organizational and administration skills

- Regularly contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
