Job Description

Job Summary

The Structural Steel Supervisor is responsible for supervising and controlling structural steel erection and installation activities to ensure safe, timely, and quality execution in compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, and HSE requirements. The role oversees manpower, subcontractors, and site execution and ensures that inspection findings and corrective actions are implemented effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate structural steel fabrication, erection, and installation activities at site.
  • Ensure structural steel works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and ITPs.
  • Plan daily work activities, manpower deployment, and equipment usage in coordination with site management.
  • Ensure availability of approved drawings, materials, tools, and resources prior to commencement of work.
  • Guide and control workforce and subcontractors to ensure quality and productivity targets are met.
  • Implement corrective actions raised by Inspectors, QA/QC, Clients, or Consultants and ensure timely closeout.
  • Monitor bolt tightening / torque activities, alignment, leveling, and structural assembly works.
  • Coordinate inspections with Inspectors, Clients, Consultants, and Third-Party Inspectors (TPI).
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and enforce safe work practices at site.
  • Support preparation of method statements, work instructions, and execution procedures.
  • Monitor work progress and report status, issues, and risks to site management.
  • Participate in site walkdowns, punch listing, and handover activities.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and work area safety during execution of structural steel works.
  • Required Qualifications & Competencies

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent construction qualification.
    • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in structural steel erection and supervision within construction projects (civil and/or oil & gas).
    • Strong knowledge of structural steel erection methods, bolt tightening techniques, and alignment practices.
    • Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and construction procedures for structural steel works.
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings, method statements, and work instructions.
    • Proven experience supervising manpower and subcontractors.
    • Strong coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
    • Good understanding of construction HSE requirements and site safety practices.
    • Proficient in written and spoken English.
