Job Description

Background

Our client, a prominent GCC pension fund, is seeking a senior professional to lead their Local Public Equity team. This individual will be responsible for managing and overseeing both internal & external local public equity mandates, ensuring it aligns with their overall objectives and risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead portfolio management responsibilities for the local (GCC) equity market, including analysis of listed companies and asset allocation responsibilities in actively managed positions.
  • Ensure the identification and collaboration with external asset managers to execute active equity investment strategies in line with the fund's objectives.
  • Lead and supervise due diligence on local asset managers, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of their track records, operational capabilities, strategic alignment, and risk assessment, while reviewing analyses conducted by the Public Equities Senior Associate.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local asset managers to enhance portfolio outcomes through niche market insights and innovative strategies.
  • Oversee the sourcing, evaluation, and management of active equity investments, ensuring alignment with the pension fund's strategy and objectives.
  • Align the execution of local active equity strategies with their investment objectives and risk management framework.
  • Provide strategic recommendations regarding adjustments to active investment strategies based on market analysis and performance review.
  • Guide the Public Equities Senior Associate in executing investment strategies, ensuring rigorous analysis of active equity options to support decision-making.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to the Public Equities Senior Associate, ensuring the delivery of high-quality analysis and decision-making.
  • Review and validate performance monitoring reports and rebalancing recommendations prepared by the Public Equities Senior Associate, ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to ensure compliance and stay informed of local market developments.
  • Ensure that all active equity investment activities comply with internal governance, risk, and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as Risk, Legal, and Compliance to address regulatory challenges related to active equity investments.
  • Ensure the integration of research and analysis conducted by the team into portfolio management decisions.
  • Oversee interactions with external stakeholders, including consultants and regulatory bodies, to align active investment decisions with internal policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in public equity investments, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing active equity portfolios.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with external asset managers, conducting due diligence, and executing active investment strategies
