Job Summary
The Technical Office Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, etc.) throughout the project lifecycle. This includes reviewing drawings, preparing technical submittals, coordinating with site teams, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, design drawings, and BOQs for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and submit technical documents, including material submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, and subcontractors for drawing approvals and technical clarifications.
- Provide technical support to site engineers and ensure work is executed as per approved drawings and standards.
- Conduct clash detection and resolve design conflicts using coordination drawings.
- Ensure mechanical works comply with the authority regulations and obtain necessary approvals.
- Participate in project meetings, inspections, and handover processes.
- Track and manage document submittals and approvals using document control systems.
Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in technical office roles within the MEP or construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems: HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, drainage, etc.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with international and local codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.).
- Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience with BIM coordination and modeling.
- Familiarity with project management and document control software (e.g., Primavera, Aconex).
- Previous experience with consultants, clients, and local authorities.
