Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Superintendent to join our Technical Department, to report to the Technical Manager and the Technical Director.

We have more than 30 offshore vessels working in the region, and we are looking for a number of experienced and junior Marine Engineers to join us in this role.

The Marine Technical Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day technical management, maintenance, and operational condition of assigned vessels.

Key responsibilities:

Day-to-day technical management and condition of the assigned fleet § Ordering, receiving, replacing, and storing spare parts.

§ Machinery Performance, analysis, accident & incidents Investigation.

§ Repair, maintenance, and refurbishment, including client units.

§ Internal, external auditors, and Subcontractor quotations.

§ Planned and unplanned inspections & dry docks.

§ Class, client, regulatory bodies, or other authority punch list.

§ Inventory of spares, tools, and consumables (base & onboard).

§ Duties of offshore staff and crew.

§ Fuel management system on board.

Create and prepare the following

§ Docking schedule & scope of work for the running year

§ Maintenance and Monitoring plans

§ List of subcontractors & service providers

§ Vessel's fuel management system.

§ Archive and document control system

§ Archive of the planned & Unplanned repair, maintenance, and dry dock.

Implementing & Complying with the following

§ International Safety Management System (ISMS)

§ Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) § Company's planned maintenance system (PMS)

§ Company's Management System

§ Monitoring Based System (MBS)

§ Inventory System (IS)

§ Safe working environment aspects regulations

Update the following

§ Dry dock scope of work and daily progress

§ Vessel's reports, certificates, documents

§ Vessel's availability, reliability & Class certificates

§ Engine room crew rotation

§ Close out deficiencies, findings, oil analysis, and Class conditions

§ Engine room crew work performance appraisal

§ Progress on technical and other assigned tasks.

§ assures Minimum critical spare parts availability.

Ensure the success of the following:

§ Vessel's availability and seaworthiness for trading

§ Minimize loss of revenue and cost of repairs.

§ Annual Budgetary Plane & Company's strategic plane

§ Fuel Management System

§ Engine room crew performance development.

§ Have the right people in the right place.

§ Maintain the updated records, documents, and vessel's history.

  • Shall be based in the Dubai office except in the following cases, which require continuous on-site presence as per the nature of the vessel's operation area or docking place.
  • § Dry dock for special survey, Repair, maintenance, refurbishment, or new build project.
  • § Regular Onshore & offshore site visits during charter.
  • § Conduct planned and unplanned repairs, inspections, and dry docks.
  • § Conduct Class Survey, Port State Control, clients, or Authority inspection.
  • In contact 24/7 with the vessel's engine room crew (if required) as per the nature of the vessel's operation, and in case of any major breakdown, to give technical support.

Profile Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering (marine-related)
  • Practical experience of over 5 years in place of a university degree.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Competency (CoC)
  • Chief Engineer III/2 (Unlimited)
  • Second Engineer (acceptable for junior superintendent roles)

Sea Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years of sea-going experience, typically including: Minimum 2 years as Chief Engineer.
  • Experience in offshore vessel maintenance works

Authority:

The delegated authority is according to the direct or higher superiors instructions including but not specified to:

• Conduct vessel inspections, technical audits, and performance evaluations.

  • Oversee and enforce technical standards for assigned vessels in accordance with company policies, Class, and statutory requirements
  • Approve routine maintenance, repairs, and technical expenditures within approved budgets
  • Instruct vessel staff on corrective actions required to maintain the vessel's technical condition
  • Liaise directly with Class societies, Flag State authorities, shipyards, and service providers on technical matters
  • Recommend crew training, technical upgrades, or corrective actions to improve vessel performance and reliability.
  • Stop or suspend repair activities where unsafe practices, quality deficiencies, or regulatory non-compliance are identified, and immediately report such actions to the Marine Technical Manager.
  • Prepare and submit technical reports, progress updates, and repair documentation to management
