he Opportunity
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially aware Vice President – Economics to lead macroeconomic research, market intelligence, and thought leadership for a leading financial institution.
This role is central to shaping economic insights that inform strategic decision-making, investment direction, and senior management discussions. You will oversee the production of high-quality economic research and play a key role in supporting executive committees and investor-facing activities.
Key Responsibilities
Economic Research & Thought Leadership
- Lead the development and publication of macroeconomic research and insights across global and regional markets
- Oversee flagship publications including economic reports, market commentary, and bespoke research
- Ensure high-quality, timely delivery of all economic outputs
Market Intelligence & Forecasting
- Monitor and analyse global economic trends, financial markets, and competitive developments
- Provide macroeconomic forecasts and insights to support business planning and strategic decisions
- Contribute to budget planning and forecasting through economic inputs
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support senior committees including Investment, ALCO, Risk, and Management Committees with economic insights
- Contribute to investor relations and external communications through thought leadership
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across business units
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of economists and analysts
- Promote high standards of research, performance, and collaboration
- Support recruitment and capability development within the function
Operational Excellence
- Oversee the use of research tools, data sources, and statistical models
- Drive efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement across research processes
- Ensure adherence to KPIs, SLAs, and internal standards
About You
Experience & Qualifications:
- Must be a fluent speaker in Arabic and English
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or related field
- Master's or PhD in Economics from a top-tier institution is highly desirable
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in economic research within a financial institution
- At least 5 years experience as a professional economist
- Proven track record in producing macroeconomic reports and analysis
