Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.
The Medical Laboratory Technologist - plays a critical role in delivering accurate and high-quality diagnostic testing within a specialized laboratory environment. This position is responsible for performing advanced laboratory analyses, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (DOH/DHA, ISO, CAP), and supporting continuous improvement of laboratory processes. The role also provides technical expertise, maintains laboratory equipment, and contributes to standardization and quality across laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform specialized laboratory testing (e.g., DNA extraction, sequencing, and analysis) in accordance with approved SOPs
- Ensure accurate sample handling, labeling, documentation, and data entry in LIMS systems
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration, maintenance, and performance checks
- Conduct quality control procedures and participate in internal and external quality assurance programs
- Support method validation, verification, and implementation of new laboratory technologies
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (ISO 15189, CAP, DOH/DHA)
- Manage laboratory inventory, including reagents and consumables, ensuring timely availability
- Provide technical expertise and support during audits, inspections, and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Science, or a related field
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant laboratory training or experience
- Certification/registration with a recognized body (e.g., ASCP, CSMLS, AIMS, or equivalent IFBLS-recognized institution)
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality standards (ISO 15189, CAP, JCI, DOH/DHA)
- Experience in molecular diagnostics or specialized laboratory testing is highly preferred
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision
