THE ROLE
We are expanding our team and have an exciting opportunity for a Shipbroker to join our Dubai office working across the Dry Physical Freight Desk. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a successful Broking background in Dry Cargo ship broking. You will be personable, tenacious and a natural networker, having a proactive approach to generating leads and securing new business.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Key responsibilities:
· Promote FIS as a company, providing market intelligence and analysis to clients
· Maintain and enhance existing client relationships, making regular contact and tracking daily trading activities;
· Drive revenue and develop and enhance client base;
· Understand the team's business strategy and identify new business opportunities relating to trends, Dry Cargo markets and clients;
· Undertake market analysis, providing market insight and trade ideas to clients;
· Responsible for daily price discovery, dissemination and matching;
· Create and write daily market reports as required;
· Identify and introduce new clients to the market and maintain professional relationships;
· Perform any other reasonable duties the company may require
Risk related responsibilities
- Support a risk and compliance aware culture and comply with FIS company policies
- Ensure full awareness of and adhere to internal policies that relate to the role or any relevant other activities
Training
- Seek regular feedback from Desk Head to ensure role requirements are met
- Complete any mandatory training required by the company and required deadlines
- Maintain own Continued Professional Development (CPD)
Requirements
Key Competencies / Skills
- Possess knowledge of shipping industry; sound knowledge of Dry Cargo markets as well as technical aspects of broking – preferred
- Degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies or related degree - preferred
- Strong client focus; personable and engaging building relationships and networks wherever possible – essential
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues - essential
- Tenacious and thrives in a pressurised environment – essential
- Team orientated; works well with others and diverse groups / personalities – essential
