As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of the commercial team, supporting the financial and contractual management of construction projects. You'll work closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost control, reporting, and commercial performance.

About Your Team

Reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, you'll collaborate with site teams, clients, and consultants. You'll also support and guide junior team members to ensure accurate and timely commercial outputs.

Your Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will:

• Pre-measure allocated trades and sections at project start-up
• Liaise with clients, PQS, and internal teams to agree monthly valuations, final accounts, and variations
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress and identify variations
• Coordinate daily with site operations teams to understand project progress and programme
• Re-measure works as required throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare and submit monthly progress claims
• Measure, value, and manage variations and new rates
• Prepare subcontractor packages for pricing, evaluation, and award
• Manage subcontractor payments, documentation, and final accounts
• Monitor project costs against budgets and allowable limits
• Track labour, materials, plant, and formwork costs, highlighting any variances
• Prepare monthly cost reports and reconciliations
• Delegate tasks to Junior/Assistant Quantity Surveyors and review their outputs
• Mentor and support junior team members to ensure performance and development

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in construction
• Strong understanding of cost control, contract administration, and commercial processes
• Proficiency in MS Office and cost management systems (e.g., CCS)
• Strong analytical, financial, and reporting skills
• Good communication and stakeholder management abilities

Desirable:

• Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS or equivalent)
• Experience working on large-scale construction projects
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
