We are looking to hire a Safety Officer who will be responsible Supporting the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the organization's Health & Safety Management System across operational areas.
Ensure hazards are identified, risks are assessed, and appropriate control measures are implemented and maintained.
Provide operational safety support including inspections, reporting, capability development, and coordination with stakeholders to improve safety performance, prevent incidents, and promote a proactive safety culture for our client based Dubai- which is one of the largest companies in the region.
This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 12 months and is renewable.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct Safety Inspections
- Carry out routine workplace safety inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance with safety standards, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support Safety Procedures and Standards
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing health and safety procedures, policies, and operational standards.
- Perform Risk Assessments
- Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and monitored.
- Monitor Compliance with Safety Regulations
- Ensure work activities comply with applicable health and safety regulations, company policies, and safe work procedures.
- Deliver Safety Training and Awareness
- Support safety training programs, conduct toolbox talks, and promote safe working practices among employees.
- Investigate Incidents and Accidents
- Participate in incident and accident investigations, perform root-cause analysis, and help implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain Safety Records and Reports
- Keep accurate safety documentation, incident records, inspection reports, and safety performance data.
- Promote Safety Culture
- Encourage safe behaviors, raise safety awareness, and support initiatives that strengthen the organization's safety culture.
- Coordinate with Stakeholders on Safety Matters
- Work with internal teams and relevant external parties to address safety concerns and improve safety performance.
- Support Continuous Improvement in Safety Management
- Assist in improving the Health & Safety Management System through monitoring, reporting, and recommending improvements.
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, standards, and best practices.
- Understanding of risk assessment, hazard identification, and control measures.
- Knowledge of incident investigation methods and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with health and safety management systems and safe systems of work.
- Awareness of relevant health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of workplace emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying hazards and recommending solutions.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Good communication and presentation skills to deliver safety training and awareness sessions.
- Ability to prepare safety reports, maintain documentation, and analyze safety data.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety standards.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture within teams.
- Good organizational and time management skills to manage multiple safety tasks.
- 57 years of overall professional experience.
- 35 years of relevant experience in health and safety roles.
