Job Description

The Senior Project Manager will support projects related to the development of urban design and planning guidelines, manuals, frameworks, and toolkits. The role requires strong experience in managing multidisciplinary consultancy teams and overseeing the delivery of high-quality strategic design documentation within a municipal environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in urban design, planning policy, and design governance projects, preferably within Abu Dhabi or the wider UAE/GCC context.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver urban design and planning projects related to guidelines, manuals, frameworks, and toolkits
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary consultancy teams, including urban designers, planners, architects, engineers, and graphic specialists
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and quality assurance of strategic design and planning documentation
  • Coordinate with public-sector and municipal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Manage project planning activities, including schedules, budgets, resources, and risk management
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery in accordance with agreed scope and standards
  • Prepare project reports, updates, and presentations for senior stakeholders
  • Support stakeholder engagement, coordination meetings, and review workshops
  • Ensure compliance with public-sector governance processes and approval procedures

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in project management within urban design, planning, or related built-environment disciplines
  • Proven experience managing projects involving design guidelines, manuals, frameworks, or toolkits
  • Strong understanding of public-sector and municipal processes
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultancy teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management, reporting, and communication skills
  • Strong command of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, or a related field
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred
  • Professional project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is desirable
  • Experience working in Abu Dhabi or similar UAE/GCC regulatory environments is highly preferred
