We are currently recruiting a Senior Underwriter - FGA (Financial Guarantee & Affinity) for our client based in Abu Dhabi, UAE
Job Summary:
The Senior Underwriter will be responsible for assessing, evaluating, and underwriting FGA risks in accordance with company standards and regulatory guidelines. This role includes risk analysis, portfolio management, technical support to junior staff, and contribution to business growth and process enhancement.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess, evaluate, and underwrite new and renewal FGA risks within delegated authority limits.
- Analyze financial statements, risk profiles, contractual terms, and market conditions to determine appropriate pricing and risk acceptance.
- Prepare underwriting proposals, terms, conditions, and recommendations aligned with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including loss ratios and exposure accumulations, and recommend corrective measures when necessary.
- Support business development by engaging with brokers, clients, and internal teams to grow a profitable portfolio.
- Review and negotiate policy wordings, endorsements, and specialized terms.
- Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, reinsurance requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Provide mentoring, training, and technical support to Junior and Intermediate Underwriters.
- Participate in audits, peer reviews, and underwriting committee meetings as required.
- Contribute to process improvements, product development initiatives, and implementation of best underwriting practices.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 5-7 years of underwriting experience, including at least 3-5 years in a senior or complex underwriting role.
- Proven experience in FGA (Financial Guarantee & Affinity) or similar specialty lines.
- Strong understanding of local insurance regulations and market practices.
- Experience working with underwriting systems, reporting tools, and portfolio monitoring.
