JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Team Leader - Revenue is responsible for leading and overseeing the organization's revenue recognition, validation, forecasting, and reporting processes, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely recording of revenue in compliance with applicable accounting standards, including IFRS 15, and internal governance requirements. This role provides strategic oversight of revenue assurance activities, ensuring proper revenue triggers, pricing accuracy, contract alignment, and financial integrity across all revenue streams.
The role plays a critical leadership function in managing and mentoring the revenue team, driving consistency in processes, strengthening internal controls, and enhancing revenue governance practices. It also supports financial planning and strategic decision-making by supervising revenue forecasting, trend analysis, and performance reporting, enabling management to make informed commercial and operational decisions.
The Team Leader - Revenue acts as the subject matter expert on revenue governance and collaborates closely with Commercial, Contracts, Operations, and Finance stakeholders to resolve revenue-related matters, improve processes, and ensure alignment between financial and operational objectives. The role requires strong analytical capability, commercial awareness, leadership competence, and attention to detail, with a focus on continuous improvement, system optimization, and compliance assurance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIE
1. Revenue Assurance & Validation (25% of time)
- Oversee the end-to-end revenue recognition process, ensuring accurate recording of transactions in accordance with accounting standards, contractual terms, and company policies
- Validate revenue triggers, pricing structures, and contract conditions to ensure completeness and accuracy of revenue entries
- Monitor revenue transactions and reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution
- Ensure appropriate revenue allocation across projects, services, or contracts, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting profitability analysis
- Strengthen revenue assurance controls to minimize revenue leakage, financial inaccuracies, and operational risks
2. Team Leadership & Performance Management (20% of time)
- Lead, coach, and develop the revenue team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring optimal resource utilization and adherence to timelines.
- Monitor team performance against established KPIs and service standards, providing feedback and performance guidance.
- Support professional development initiatives, training programs, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Promote collaboration, engagement, and high-performance standards aligned with organizational objectives.
3. Revenue Forecasting, Analysis & Financial Planning Support (15% of time)
- Supervise revenue forecasting processes, ensuring accurate projections for budgeting, financial planning, and management reporting.
- Analyze revenue trends, pricing performance, and business drivers to provide actionable financial insights
- Support scenario analysis and financial modelling to evaluate potential commercial or operational impacts.
- Collaborate with finance leadership to enhance forecasting methodologies and reporting accuracy
- Monitor variances between actual and forecasted revenue, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
4. Revenue Governance & Compliance (15% of time)
- Act as the subject matter expert for revenue governance, ensuring compliance with IFRS 15, company policies, and financial regulations
- Implement and maintain internal controls related to revenue recognition, reporting accuracy, and financial integrity.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and compliance evidence
- Ensure adherence to Delegation of Authority (DOA) frameworks and financial approval protocols.
- Identify risks, control gaps, or compliance issues and implement corrective measures to strengthen governance practices.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment (15% of time)
- Collaborate closely with Commercial, Contracts, Operations, and Finance teams to resolve revenue-related issues and ensure alignment between financial and operational data.
- Provide financial insights related to pricing strategies, contract terms, and revenue structures to support business decisions.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to address revenue challenges, improve processes, and enhance transparency.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of discrepancies or contractual is sues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across revenue-related processes and workflows.
6. Reporting, Insights & Process Optimization (10% of time)
- Prepare and review revenue dashboards, management reports, and variance analysis for senior leadership.
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Identify opportunities to enhance revenue processes through automation, system improvements, or workflow optimization.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and reliability within financial systems and reporting tools.
- Support system enhancements, upgrades, or integration initiatives impacting revenue management processes.
