Job Purpose:
Prepare accurate cost estimates for wooden works packages including joinery, furniture, doors, wardrobes, kitchens, and decorative wood elements by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and BOQs to support the sales and tendering process.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Study tender documents, drawings, BOQs, and specifications related to wooden works.
- Identify project scope including joinery items, furniture, doors, wardrobes, kitchens, and wall paneling.
- Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and BOQs.
- Prepare material take-offs for wooden components.
- Calculate material costs including boards, laminates, veneers, hardware, accessories, and finishing.
- Estimate labor and manufacturing costs for joinery production.
- Coordinate with suppliers for quotations of materials and hardware.
- Liaise with factory or production teams to validate manufacturing costs.
- Prepare detailed cost sheets and estimation summaries.
- Support preparation of commercial offers and tender submissions.
- Provide value engineering options when required.
- Maintain updated cost databases for materials and labor.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of wood materials and joinery construction.
- Ability to read architectural and interior drawings.
- Strong BOQ and quantity take-off skills.
- Good understanding of costing and pricing structures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
Preferred Technical Knowledge
- Joinery manufacturing processes.
- Furniture and cabinetry production.
- Veneers, laminates, MDF, plywood, and solid wood.
- Hardware systems such as hinges and sliding systems.
- Finishing materials and techniques.
Software Knowledge
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
- ERP systems such as SAP or similar
- Estimation tools
Experience
3–7 years experience in joinery, fit-out projects, furniture manufacturing, or wooden doors, wardrobes, and kitchens.
Education
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Wood Engineering, or Industrial Design
